MAS and AI in financial institutions
When it applies
Every date on which a MAS and AI in financial institutions obligation first bites, and what lands on each. Where a provision applies on more than one date, it appears on all of them.
§ 1 — How to read this
4 dates carry an obligation in this collection, all of them now in force. Dates are taken from each obligation's own applicability column rather than restated here, so this page and the provision pages cannot disagree. Where a date is not self-explanatory — a transitional provision, a deferred application, a later amendment moving it — the reason is recorded against it.
§ 2 — In force
Already in force

- Notice FSM-N05, paragraph 9 — Notice on Technology Risk Management
The date FSM-N05 took effect, stated in the Notice itself. The predecessor sectoral Notices on technology risk management, including Notice 644 for banks, were cancelled the same day.

5 December 2024
- AI Model Risk Management §5.3 — Observations from a Thematic Review
Publication date of the information paper. Not a commencement date: an information paper has no legal effect, nothing was required of any institution on this date, and the observations are published as good practice MAS encourages rather than as a duty.
- AI Model Risk Management §6.4 — Observations from a Thematic Review
The publication date of the information paper — the day the observations appeared, not a commencement date. Nothing was required of any institution on it, and an information paper has no legal effect in MAS’ instrument taxonomy.
- AI Model Risk Management §5.3 — Observations from a Thematic Review
13 November 2025
- AI Model Risk Management §5.3 — Observations from a Thematic Review
Publication of Consultation Paper P017-2025, which proposed the same three dimensions as an expectation at paragraph 3.10 of the draft Guidelines. The consultation closed on 31 January 2026 and the Guidelines had not been issued as at 30 August 2026. A proposal, not a duty.
- SAFR v1.0 — Safeguards for Agentic Finance at Runtime
Publication date of the Project MindForge Phase 2 materials, which broadened that consortium’s scope from generative AI to traditional, generative and agentic AI. A publication date for voluntary industry material, not a deadline, and nothing was required of any institution on it.
- AI Model Risk Management §5.3 — Observations from a Thematic Review
3 July 2026
- SAFR v1.0 — Safeguards for Agentic Finance at Runtime
Publication date of SAFR version 1.0. Again a publication date rather than a commencement date: the paper is an industry product, imposes nothing, and no compliance obligation attached to any institution on this date or since.
