About the Council

A certification body built to be checked

The AI Assurance Council certifies professionals on how they use AI in their work. Every credential is earned by assessment against a published competency framework and can be checked by anyone on a public register.

§ 1Purpose

Using AI at work is common. Showing you use it well is not.

An employer has no simple way to tell who uses AI soundly and who does not, and a professional has no simple way to prove it. The Council exists to close that gap. It is an independent certification body, not tied to any one profession, employer or software vendor, and it certifies that a professional can use AI soundly in their own work.

Its flagship credential, the Certified Applied AI Associate, is open to people in any line of work. Its professional credentials go further, into the use of AI within a specific profession.

The Council is a private industry certification body, established in 2026-08-31 and funded by examination and membership fees. It is incorporated in Singapore as AI Assurance Council Pte. Ltd. (UEN 202640068G), the company you contract with under the terms of use.

§ 4Scheme principles

How the scheme is built

Four rules govern every certification we issue. They are published so they can be held against us, and where we fail one, that is a defect you can raise under our appeals and complaints procedure.

  1. 01

    Examination is independent of preparation

    The credential is earned by examination and by nothing else. The examination fee includes the Council’s self-paced video course, and using it is optional. No course, the Council’s or anyone else’s, is required to sit, gives an advantage in marking, or is visible to an examiner. A credential you can only obtain by buying the course is a receipt, not a credential.

    We test application, not memorisation

    Questions put the candidate in situations from practice and ask what they would do. Knowing the terms is the starting point, never what earns the credential.

    Every credential is publicly checkable

    Each carries a unique identifier that any third party can verify, without contacting the holder. A credential that cannot be independently checked provides no assurance to an employer.

    No credential lasts forever

    Practice with AI is moving too fast for a lifetime certificate to mean anything, so every credential carries a validity period and must be revalidated.

§ 5Governance

What keeps a certification decision impartial

Certification decisions rest with the Certification Panel, people who take no part in writing or delivering the Council's preparation course and hold no commercial interest in the outcome. Three separations hold on every script the Council marks.

Separation 01

Preparation is separate from examination

The Council writes the course included with the fee, so this conflict sits inside the scheme. Nobody who writes or delivers preparation, inside the Council or outside it, takes any part in setting the examination, marking a script or deciding a result. The course is built from the published syllabus, never from live items, and pass rates by preparation route are published each year.

Separation 02

Assessment is separate from decision

Marking establishes a mark, by machine, against the paper’s fixed answer key. Releasing the result is a separate act, done by a named member of staff after reviewing the recording of the session, and no result, a pass or a fail, is released on the machine mark alone.

Separation 03

Interests declared, results challengeable

Anyone with a part in scheme content, marking or certification decisions declares their interests and stands down where one bites. Any candidate may challenge a result under the published procedure, and the review is done by someone who had no part in the original decision.

How every script is marked

Step 01

Machine marked

Every paper is marked by machine against its fixed answer key, item by item. Unscored pilot items never count. The same answers always produce the same mark, whoever runs it and however often.

Step 02

Reviewed and released

Before any result is released, a named member of the Council’s staff reviews the recording of the session and the marked script, then releases it, within 3 working days of submission. Every result carries the name of the person who released it and can be asked to account for it.

Every item is written against the published syllabus, attacked for a second defensible answer and solved blind by an independent reader before it is filed. No result is released until a person has reviewed the recording and the marked script. Any candidate may also ask for a clerical check of the mark by a named member of staff, which is free and separate from an appeal. An allegation of credential misuse or professional misconduct goes to a conduct panel convened for that case, with at least one member external to the Council. How a result is appealed.
