Member benefits

What a membership carries, stated in full — the rates, the early sight of what defines the standard, and the standing on the public register. What it does not carry is set out just as plainly at the foot of this page.

§ 1 — The rates

What it is worth

Membership is renewed annually at US$165 a year, or US$275 for a two-year term. Every figure below comes from the published fee schedule.

§ 2 — In full

Everything a membership carries

  • First year included with any paid examination

    Sit any paid examination and the first year of membership comes with it. From then on, an active membership is what keeps the credential in force.

  • 30% off every additional examination

    Member rate on every further certification and endorsement, and on revalidation. A re-sit is charged at 50% of the fee paid; a candidate without a membership pays the standard fee again.

  • Early sight of specimen examination materials

    Specimen scenarios, marking rubrics and grading guidance are circulated to members for comment before they are published generally. Live examination content is never circulated to anyone.

  • CPD counted toward revalidation

    Credentials carry a two-year term. Member briefings, webinars and consultation activity count toward the CPD required to revalidate, so staying current and staying certified are one activity.

  • Listed on the member network

    Credential holders who consent are listed by name on the public register, so an employer can confirm a claim without contacting them. Members without a credential are listed as members, never as certified.

  • Free access to briefings and webinars

    Written analysis whenever a framework, regulation or supervisory expectation moves materially — what changed, and what it means for an assessment already in progress.

  • Publish on the Council platform

    Members may propose practitioner writing for Insights. Accepted pieces are published under the author’s name and carry a byline, subject to editorial review.

  • Consultation on draft scheme documents

    Draft scheme documents, competency frameworks and examination standards are circulated to members for comment before they take effect. Comments are logged and answered in the consultation response.

  • Use of the post-nominal

    Members in good standing holding a current credential may use the associated designation, subject to the code of conduct.

§ 4 — Limits

What membership is not

It is not a credential and never describes anyone as certified. It buys no advantage in assessment, no preparation — the Council sells none — and no influence over a certification decision, which rests with the Certification Panel. Consultation on a draft is comment, never a vote.

And it confers no standing that assessment has not already conferred. There is one individual plan at one price, so within it grade follows the credential you hold rather than the amount you have paid.

Frequently asked questions

Does membership make it easier to pass?

No, and it is designed not to. The examination, the marking standard and the cut score are identical for members and non-members, assessors are not told which a candidate is, and no member sees live examination content. What members see early are specimen materials and draft standards — what defines the bar, never help in clearing it.

Do I need a credential to be a member?

No. Individual membership is open to professionals working in AI assurance, risk, audit and governance whether or not they hold one. A member without a credential is listed as a member and never as certified, and holds no post-nominal.

What happens to my credential if membership lapses?

It expires at the end of its term and the register shows it as expired. Nothing is withdrawn and nothing is held against you — the entry stays on the register with its status shown, and revalidating restores it. A credential is a claim about current competence, and the Council will not keep asserting it for someone who has stopped maintaining it.

Does paying more raise my standing?

It cannot. There is one individual plan, and the three standings — Registered, Member, Fellow — are reached by assessment: the free Literacy Certificate, a paid examination, and the Fellow grade respectively. A body where paying more upgrades your status has sold status; one where only assessment upgrades it has sold a credential.
