A certification attests to competence on the date of assessment. Membership keeps it current — CPD counted toward revalidation, consultation on scheme documents before they take effect, and a register listing an employer can check.

§ 1 — What you get

Join as a member

Membership keeps a credential current. Everything below applies from the day you join, whether or not you hold a credential yet.

Fees are set in line with those of comparable international bodies and published ahead of the first cohort. See what the market charges.

  • 30% off every examinationMember rate on every certification and endorsement, and on revalidation. Membership plus two examinations at the member rate costs less than two examinations at the standard rate.
  • Early sight of specimen examination materialsSpecimen scenarios, marking rubrics and grading guidance are circulated to members for comment before they are published generally. Live examination content is never circulated to anyone.
  • CPD counted toward revalidationCredentials carry a two-year term. Member briefings, webinars and consultation activity count toward the CPD required to revalidate, so staying current and staying certified are one activity.
  • Listed on the member networkCredential holders who consent are listed by name on the public register, so an employer can confirm a claim without contacting them. Members without a credential are listed as members, never as certified.
  • Free access to briefings and webinarsWritten analysis whenever a framework, regulation or supervisory expectation moves materially — what changed, and what it means for an assessment already in progress.
  • Publish on the Council platformMembers may propose practitioner writing for Insights. Accepted pieces are published under the author’s name and carry a byline, subject to editorial review.
  • Consultation on draft scheme documentsDraft scheme documents, competency frameworks and examination standards are circulated to members for comment before they take effect. Comments are logged and answered in the consultation response.
  • Use of the post-nominalMembers in good standing holding a current credential may use the associated designation, subject to the code of conduct.

§ 2 — Plans

Two plans, renewed annually

Membership is separate from certification. You can be a member without a credential, and you can hold a credential without being a member — the examination is open to anyone either way.

Members holding a current credential are listed on the public register with consent, and may use the associated post-nominal. Members without one are listed as members, never as certified.

Corporate Membership Plan

Employers certifying a team, and approved training partners.

Corporate membership certifies no one. Each individual is assessed separately, and an organisation cannot hold a credential — only its people can.

§ 3 — Standing

Two standings, and how each is reached

Standing is what the Council will call you in public — on the member network, in a directory listing, and in whatever you are entitled to say about your relationship with the Council. It is derived from what you currently hold rather than stored as a label, so it cannot drift from the record behind it.

Associate Member

Held by anyone with a current AIAC AI Literacy Certificate — free, assessment-only, and the one route into the Council that costs nothing.

An Associate Member is not listed in the member directory and is never described as certified. The awareness tier attests to understanding, not to assessed professional competence.

Standing 2Renewed annually

Member

Held for as long as a membership is live, under either plan above. It carries the member examination rate, consultation on scheme documents, and directory listing.

Paying an examination fee does not confer it, and neither does passing one. Certification and membership are separate relationships, and the Council will not describe someone as a member on the strength of a transaction they have not made.

§ 4 — Limits

What membership is not

Membership is not a credential. A member who has not passed an examination has not been assessed, may not use any post-nominal, and does not appear on the register as a credential holder. Describing membership as certification is a breach of the code of conduct.

Membership confers no advantage in assessment. Members and non-members sit the same examination, marked to the same standard. Assessors are not told whether a candidate is a member.

Membership is not required to certify. Any candidate may register and sit without it. Members pay a reduced fee; nothing else differs.

§ 5 — Register interest
