Verify a credential

The credential name, the identifier, the issue date, the expiry date, and the current status — active, expired, suspended, or withdrawn. The holder’s name is shown only where the holder has consented to public listing.

Expired means the term ran out and the holder did not revalidate — it says nothing against the person. Suspended means the credential is not in force while a matter is open, and it may be restored. Withdrawn means the Council removed it, and it will not be restored. Only the last two follow a decision about the holder, and none of the three is a reason to treat the original issue as false. Entries are never deleted in any of these cases, because a verification record that can disappear is not a verification record.

Ask them to consent to public listing — consent is recorded against the credential, and the name then appears on the record you are already looking at. Until it is given, the lookup confirms that the credential exists and is in force, but deliberately will not tie it to a person: the register does not disclose a name the holder has not agreed to publish, including to an employer.

That no credential with that identifier exists — the register holds every credential the Council has ever issued, so there is no case in which a real one is missing from it. Check the identifier for a transcription error first; if it was stated correctly, the claim is false and can be reported through the link below.

Yes. Any identifier can be looked up now, and the register answers definitively either way: the record of what was issued, or confirmation that no credential carries that identifier. AI Literacy Certificates use the separate AIAC-L namespace and the same box accepts them.
